Genteq capacitors, often referred to as GE Genteq capacitors, are a type of electrical component manufactured by Genteq, a brand owned by Regal Beloit Corporation. These capacitors are widely used in various electrical and HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) applications. Genteq is a division of Regal-Beloit Corporation, one of the largest manufacturers of electric motors in the world. Genteq is the rebranding of Regal Beloit’s GE ECM, GE Capacitors and GE Commercial Motors divisions, which occurred in 2009.

Genteq develops and manufactures electronically commutated motors (ECM) and capacitors for residential and light commercial heating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. Capacitor is a passive element that stores electric charge statistically and temporarily as an static electric field. It is composed of two parallel conducting plates separated by non-conducting region that is called dielectric, such as vacuum, ceramic, air, aluminum, etc. Some of the most common dielectrics used are Electrolytic, Ceramic, & Film. The different plate and dielectric materials allow for a variety of capacitor types that can be specialized for specific functions and uses. Capacitors are measured in Farads as well as subdivisions of Farads such as uF(microfarad), nF (nanofarad), & pF (picofarad) and capacitors that are rated at 1 Farad or greater are typically referred to as Supercapacitors.

residential systems up to 5-tons. Easily replaces 6 Pole (1,100 rpm rated) and 8 pole (850 rpm rated) shaded pole or PSC motors.

This capacitor series is designed specifically for applications such as AC filters where harmonic frequencies greater than 60Hz are common. Application Data is provided in the catalog, which gives the Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR) for these units. This allows the user to calculate the losses for each design/application and to ensure that they are kept within the permissible limits.



HID Lighting Dry Capacitors

HID Lighting Dry Capacitors

This capacitor series is designed specifically for the HID Lighting applications where the capacitor are used as part of the ballast circuit for mercury vapor, metal halide, and high-pressure sodium lamps. The units are designed to operate at up to 90ºC, which is the normal requirement for HID ballast capacitors. Due to advances in material technology and breakthroughs in proprietary capacitor manufacturing processes, selected ratings are now available for operation up to 100ºC for 60,000 hours.

This capacitor series is designed specifically for the motor run applications where the capacitors are use in conjunction with permanent split capacitor type motors. They may be used on either 50 or 60-Hertz systems but should not be used at higher frequencies or in applications where higher frequency harmonic are present. For those types of applications the General Purpose AC Capacitors should be used.



Motor Run Dry AC Capacitors

This capacitor series is designed and manufactured with metallized polypropylene film to provide self-healing properties and very low dielectric losses. These features, coupled with a flame retardant plastic case and encapsulate, make these capacitors ideally suited for permanent split phase motor applications as well as other applications where the user has determined that a dry metallized film capacitor with no internal protective device is suitable and acceptable.
